SUMMER OF SUNSETS

Gemma Cooper, a famous chef in Los Angeles, finds herself at rock bottom when her fiancé breaks up with her the same week she lost her job. She had never anticipated losing her job solely because of a single, terrible review. With her confidence shattered both personally and professionally, she is unsure of where she will land next.

Life takes yet another unexpected turn when she inherits her grandparents’ lake house in the Texas Hill Country. Leaving behind what’s left of her life in Los Angeles, she embarks on a new journey to Texas, brimming with anticipation for the future. However, her excitement is short-lived as she discovers that the newly inherited house is in dire need of extensive repairs. Determined to restore it, she hires contractor Cole Michaelson to help her with the much-needed work. But will Cole not only be able to fix the house, but also mend her broken heart?

“Summer of Sunsets,” a captivating and inspiring novel by J. Collette Smith, has left an indelible mark on me. From the moment I opened the cover, I was utterly engrossed in the story and couldn’t put it down until the very end. Gemma and Cole’s journey, despite their rocky beginning, was heartwarming and inspiring. I found myself rooting for them throughout their second chance.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I was thoroughly impressed. The narrative flowed effortlessly, and the characters were lovable and relatable. The author’s vivid descriptions of the Texas Hill Country perfectly complemented the story, creating a vivid and immersive setting. I eagerly anticipate reading more of her works in the future. “Summer of Sunsets” is an unputdownable and phenomenal story that I highly recommend to anyone seeking a captivating and emotionally resonant read.
