SECRETS IN CYPRESS BAYOU

MY THOUGHTS:

Carly Bertrand is back in Cypress Bayou, as a new lawyer, and now she needs to find a job.  But when she receives a job offer from Tanner Carmichael, who happens to be her childhood crush, Carly quickly accepts his offer.  Carly is exactly who Tanner needs to get his new law firm off the ground.  Their first case together is a woman searching for her birth mother.  Tanner and Carly accept her case and it doesn’t take long before they are knee deep in buried secrets.  As layers and layers of secrets surface, the people that are involved are piling up.  The more time they spend “working the case” and finding the truth, the more they uncover their true feelings for each other.

This is the second installment in the Louisiana Bayou Series and this book was every bit as good as the first.  Wow…amazing!!  This book can be read as a standalone but is enjoyed best as part of this wonderful series.  I found this story to be captivating and extremely inspirational.  I was enthralled in this story from the opening of the cover to the very last page.  This unputdownable, read in one sitting book, is one that I devoured.  It made me want to head to the Louisiana Bayou.  If you read only one more book the rest of this year, do yourself a favor and make sure it is this one.  This is a definite must read, and I highly recommend this book.

Thank you Susan Sands for such an amazing addition to your Louisiana Series.  I absolutely love this series and I can’t wait for the next installment. I loved this story from cover to cover and I highly recommend it.

When newly minted attorney Carly Bertrand returns to Cypress Bayou, Louisiana, to be close to her family, her first priority is finding a job. She’s shocked to get an offer from her childhood crush, Tanner Carmichael, whose town roots are as deep as hers. Carly accepts, confident she can help Tanner get his new law practice up and running, and keep her attraction to him under lock and key. She’s no longer a starry-eyed teen admiring from afar.

Their first client is a woman searching for her birth mother who mysteriously disappeared decades ago without a trace. Carly and Tanner take the case and soon find themselves drowning in a swampy patch of secrets, political corruption, and danger. And the further they dig, the more it looks like Tanner’s powerful, narcissistic father is involved.

As they work to unravel the mystery, Carly’s old feelings resurface and Tanner can’t believe the shy girl next door has become such a brilliant, beautiful, and determined woman. Should they risk everything for the truth, including their hearts, or settle for safety?
